Today marks the 20th anniversary of Joss Whedon’s “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” debuting on this night March 10, 1997 on The WB (later moved to also now defunct UPN.) Last night/early this morning on Twitter I free-formed a list of 20+ things I still love about Buffy, the Scoobies (the name for the ensemble players who assisted Buffy), and the show’s legacy. Plus a few other Tweets are included below that summed up the feeling that 20 years has gone by!
“In every generation there is a Chosen One. She alone will stand against the vampires, the demons, and the forces of darkness. She is the Slayer.” – That was the opening narration for the first two seasons. However with help from her friends & former enemies, one slayer would become many. The series would change the rules dictated by the in-universe patriarchy and of the real world’s genre television.
“BtVS” can currently be streamed on Netflix & Hulu. View my list via Storify below (or click here)
